How to release stress and anxiety from your energy: 6 practices I use myself

Some days I feel stress before I can name it: a tight chest, shoulders up by my ears, a heaviness that isn't mine. After more than 10 years of energy work, these are the six practices I keep coming back to. You can do them at home, in a few minutes.

The short answer

To release stress from your energy, first bring yourself back into your body with grounding and slow breathing. Then clear what you've absorbed with water, salt and cord cutting, and finally protect your field. Five to ten minutes a day is enough to feel the difference.

Why stress settles in your energy

Stress isn't only a thought. When you live in alert mode, your energy field contracts and starts holding what you don't release: unspoken words, other people's moods, the tension of a long day.

Because I'm clairsentient, I feel this in the people I work with as density, as if the air around them were thicker. The good news is that what builds up can also be released.

1. Ground yourself through your feet

When anxiety pulls you into your head, come back down. Stand barefoot on grass, sand or the floor. Picture roots growing from the soles of your feet into the earth, and let every exhale send the tension down those roots. Two minutes is enough. This awakens your root chakra, the center of feeling safe.

2. Breathe out longer than you breathe in

Inhale through your nose for a count of four, then exhale slowly for a count of six. Repeat for two minutes. A long exhale tells your body the danger has passed. It's the simplest tool I know, and the one the people I work with use most between sessions.

3. Let water carry it away

In the shower, imagine the water as light washing away everything that isn't yours, from the crown of your head to your feet and down the drain. Once a week, add a handful of sea salt to a warm bath. Water and salt are some of the oldest allies for clearing energy.

4. Cut the cords that drain you

Close your eyes and think of a person or situation that keeps pulling at your energy. Picture a cord between you. With love, not anger, cut it with a golden light and say: “I give back what is yours and take back what is mine.” You're not ending the relationship, only releasing the energy that doesn't belong to you.

5. Place a hand on your heart

Rest your hand on your chest, breathe into it and repeat a phrase that feels true, like “Right now, I'm safe.” Your heart chakra responds to presence, not perfection.

6. Seal your energy before you go out

Before a meeting or a crowded place, picture a bubble of golden light around you, a few inches from your skin. Everything loving can come in; whatever isn't yours stays outside. It takes thirty seconds and changes how you feel when you get home.

When to ask for support

If the same tension keeps coming back, or you feel stuck in a pattern you can't quite name, it may have roots these practices can't reach on their own. That's where a session helps: I read your field, find where the energy is held and guide it out.

Energy work is a holistic complement. If your anxiety is persistent or intense, please also reach out to a doctor or a mental health professional.

Frequently asked questions

Can energy work help with anxiety?
Energy practices can help you feel calmer and lighter by releasing tension held in your energy field. They complement medical or psychological care, but never replace it.
What is the fastest energy practice for stress?
A long exhale: breathe in for four counts and out for six, for two minutes. It calms the body almost immediately.
How long does it take to feel a difference?
Many people feel lighter after a few minutes of grounding and breathing. With daily practice, the calm becomes more stable.
